On Friday November 3rd and Saturday November 4th 2023, TransEET members participated in the ‘Second International Symposium on Augmented and Virtual Reality in Mathematics Education’. The symposium was organised by University of Siegen, Germany and it took place online via Webex platform.
TransEET members gave presentations about the project research methods, theoretical concepts and material developed within each one of the four Community Of Practice (CoI). Prototypes related to AR and VR which have been co-designed in CoIs were presented and discussed with all participants with regards to their functionalities, pedagogical value in mathematics education and possibilities for improvement. TransEET members also participated in intresting talks about the integration of AR and VR in mathematics education, its affordances and limitations, and reflected on the way the project can incorporate insightful design ideas with added pedagogical value. TransEET participants included Anders Bouwer, Sonia Palha, Daan van Smaalen from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands; Ornella Robutti, Gabriella Pocalana, Sara Bagossi, Mosé Colangelo and Carlotta Soldano from the University of Turin, Italy; Guillermo Bautista from JKU Linz, Austria; Chronis Kynigos, Myrto Karavakou and Marianthi Grizioti from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece; Yang Yang, Manolis Mavrikis and Eirini Geraniou from the University College London, UK.
