2.4.4 Videos of FRP
Given that rapid prototyping is a dynamic and iterative process, and prototypes themselves are evolving entities designed for use, review and refinement, it is important to employ effective communication methods that capture both how a prototype is used in action and how it evolved through repetitive cycles of review and redesign. Rather than solely documenting the design process and providing detailed implementation guidelines, creating comprehensive, short videos offers a more engaging and holistic way to showcase a prototype or its evolution. Videos allow for real-time demonstration, making it easier to understand functionality, usability, and the relationships between different prototype iterations—something that static documentation often fails to convey effectively. To support CoI members to effectively communicate their ideas and their evolution through video, a jointly developed Video Template can serve as a structured framework. This template would provide consistency, clarity, and a streamlined approach to visually presenting prototypes, fostering better collaboration and understanding among all members.
For the purposes of communicating effectively the evolution of the prototypes the TransEET network developed a video template which included the main elements that drove the flow of the prototype. These are:
- The designer’s and the reviewers’ fields of expertise
- Demonstration of all the prototypes related to the flow and their main design ideas
- The strong and weak points that were highlighted in the reviews and informed the redesign of the initial prototype or the design of another prototype
